Lighting

LED Lighting

With energy conservation becoming increasingly more important, LED lighting will progressively supersede older technologies

. There are several reasons why:

Lower power consumption (4W vs 21W)

Shorter Activation time (1ms vs 200ms)

Higher lifetime (total vehicle lifetime)

LED bulbs can be used as a direct replacement for conventional blubs, as long as they have the same fitting. It must be noted that these bulbs are for off road use only. Due to the fact that a light-emitting diode is only one directional it does not confirm to ECE regulations at present.

LED bulbs run on much lower wattage, and have a lower resistance that standard filament bulbs, this can sometimes cause problems with the vehicles ECU which monitors the electrics. The reduced resistance can fool the ECU into thinking the blub has blown and therefore the warning light will come on and remain on.

Canbus blubs like the one pictured above are designed to eliminate any problems with the vehicles ECU. They manage this due to the fact they have a built in resistor
